On January 6, 2021, a joint session of Congress took place to finalize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, and rioters stormed the Capitol Building. The Trump-supporters arrived in Washington D.C. at the beckoning of President Donald J. Trump. They come and assemble to take direction from our commander-in-chief. The President of the United States of America asked for the large group to march down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol Building to cheer for weak Republicans to prevent or change an election where 81 million voted for change. This event is where Donald Trump becomes an enemy of the State.
It starts with the lie of widespread election fraud. I understand that common sense isn’t always common, but we should know better as educated people. Anyone with common sense knows there was none. More than 90 judges to include the Supreme Court, said as much. Yet, certain news media outlets, as well as the deafening silence of the Republican-controlled Senate, fanned the flames of disinformation.
Donald Trump becomes an enemy of the State when he insights the large group and skulled off to watch from a safe location. It wasn’t until President-elect Joe Biden urged him to take to the airwaves to get his supporters to stand down. By that time, the damage has already been done.
Why do people stay silent until life is lost? One woman was shot and died from her injuries amid the siege. Many Republicans are now speaking out against President Trump and the actions that transpired. I’m sure we look like a made-for-television movie by those of us who watch from home as well as internationally. America has always been the beacon of hope, liberty, and justice. America is the one place where people would travel from every continent to visit or start anew. We are a laughing stock. Much needs to be repaired as our democracy suffers many fractures.
