I always have to have something planned for the little people in my life. My thought process is simple, it has to be creative, it has to be hands-on, and it has to be something that will give them pride. We try not to do the same thing twice. I need them to be eager and a little surprised for the journey that I take them on. So, I request their presence for a Mother’s Day project. Little did I know, it would be such a wild ride.
The task was simple but complicated for children under the age of ten years old. For one afternoon, my crew became floral arrangers for live flowers. They had to make seven (7) floral arrangements for each mother and grandmother. Mothers always appreciate gifts that are hand-crafted because of the time and effort used to create them.
Here are the supplies necessary to create this Mother’s Day project:
- A variety of live flowers
- Small to medium dish
- Wet floral foam
- Floral tape
- Tap water
- Floral scissors
- Cellophane
Here is the process to create the live floral arrangement:
- Soak your wet foam for five minutes before use
- Tape the wet foam to the center of your dish
- Use floral tape to secure it in place
- Cut down you flowers to the appropriate size
- Starting filling in your wet foam with your greenery first
- Distribute your flowers evenly until you have an entire arrangement
- Wrap carefully for delivery
Surprisingly, they all took their time. All of the children were excited to be in charge of placing the flowers to build an arrangement. The only thing I had to do was instruct them on the length of the stem to cut off. They manage to complete all seven floral arrangements in two and a half hours. I did help them pack everything up.
Every mom was amazed at how well and professional their Mother’s Day project turned out. I let them know as they each left that I was proud of them for all of their hard work.
I hope that you have a great Mother’s Day. #MothersDay
