With two days left until Christmas, once again people are on the move to be with loved ones during perilous times. The roads and airports are crowded despite the need and beckoning from government officials to stay put. Will the defiance to congregate outside of your immediate household be detrimental to the well-being of many in the coming year? I can only hope to get my Christmas wish.
My little people are with me on a consistent basis. We will manage to make Christmas great. I don’t know what I would do if I could see my grandchildren. They keep me motivated and entertained. If I had to be without them, I would be sad. However, I would hope that things next holiday season would be better. I understand the desire to fellowship, but at what cost? My Christmas wish is very simple.
The children put together a Christmas pajamas shindig. It was just us. The grandchildren decorated holiday cookies, played charades, and we teamed-up for a friendly game of holiday family feud. It was short and sweet. A few hours at most. It made me happy. No, it didn’t happen on Christmas, but it felt like it. My Christmas wish needs to come true.
On Christmas day, it will be quiet after all the presents are opened. The grandchildren will disappear into their rooms trying out everything new that they received. I’ll peak in, not disturbing their exploration and banter. A few of them will be missing as they don’t come around as often. I’ll be okay because I know that next holiday season, I’ll have them all in one room like old times.
My Christmas wish is for everyone to stay safe, find a little happiness, and take solace in knowing that better tomorrows are coming. From my family to yours, happy holidays. #Happy-holidays
