The first thing on my summer schedule is to get rid of the resident grandchildren. They are gone until the next school semester begins. It is such a thrill to see them wheel their little travel bags out of my door. I will not call to check on them or answer my phone when they try to call to check on me. Until you raise grandchildren, you can’t understand. The silence is precious, earned, and appreciated.
There are a host of tasks I intend to accomplish while I have my freedom. My summer schedule is hefty. I plan to rise to the occasion putting in my best effort. Here is a peek at my list of projects:
My Summer Schedule List
- Publish ten works – I am well on my way to meeting this goal already. I have four old works that I have been tinkering with for a while. A half-dozen new storylines already in mind map form awaiting the flood gates to open so that the characters can come to life. Two works are in motion, with one complete and released.
- Travel – It’s time for some relaxation. A new location, room service, and poolside mojitos are in my future. A few mini-trips are baked into my work schedule.
- Read – My reading list is nearly a mile long, and my goal is 75 books this year. I’m far behind. In the time that I have to myself, I want to knock out at least another 25 books.
- Lose a few pounds – Every time I start a regimen, something gets in the way. The kids are gone, so there is no junk food in the house. That’s the first step. I am going to do the skip rope challenge. Jumping hundred times per day should get me somewhere along with eating properly.
- Home Improvement – Every summer, when my grandchildren vacate, I need to restore their room to my inhabitable level. Kids are messy, but these two take it to a new level. Sure, they make their beds every day, and you can walk in the room without stepping on a toy, but what they call clean and what I call clean are two different things. When they are gone, I tend to purge all items that I have not seen them play within six months. Also, I like to create something from scratch that I know they can appreciate adding a new feature in their space.
My summer schedule might not sound like fun. It’s all a necessity for a happier me. I hope that your summer schedule is all that you want it to be.
