The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has announced that outdoor mask-wearing is no longer necessary. It doesn’t matter whether or not you have been vaccinated. Outdoor transmission is not a threat to the general public. The country is moving forward with being completely open for business, leisure, and co-mingling. However, a growing sector of citizens are saying no thank you to the mask-off decision.
Many people feel safe and secure behind the mask and choose to continue. Wearing a mask has become a thing we have adopted as part of our daily lives. It will be hard for people to allow themselves to be exposed. Only a third of the country is vaccinated fully or partially. People getting the vaccine has slowed, making the people who have say no thank you to the mask-off decision.
Indoor mask-wearing is still in effect in businesses as well as during airplane and mass transit travel. However, some indoor venues are relaxing their mask-wearing policies. The social distancing rules are fading away as well. Restaurants and bars are increasing their serving capacities with every passing day.
By the time we hit the official first day of summer, I am sure it will look like 2019 again. There will be crowds for social events, restaurants, and public transportation like in the old days. However, along with many others, I will continue to say no thank you to the mask-off decision. A pandemic still rages. Yes, the numbers are going down, but daily positivity and death rates remain in the hundreds.
Vaccinated or not, wearing a mask in public for a little longer will not hurt anything. You will still get where you need to go, be welcomed into establishments, and be able to conduct business. The same way people are using a wait and see approach with vaccination, as a precaution for you and your loved ones, keeping the mask-on might be wise.
