The administration in charge gives me pause. The government has pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement and rolled back clean-air initiatives. The powers that be have rewritten the North American Free Trade Agreement and walked away from the Iran Nuclear Disarmament deal. The current administration consistently puts distance between the United States of America and our allies. The reality is all of these issues affect all Americans at every socio-economic level. If the children are our future, what kind of future will it be? Could the government be putting America at risk for war?
Current Situation
In recent days, Iran has made efforts to allegedly sabotage an oil tanker in international waters, shot down a United States reconnaissance drone and threatens to increase its uranium supply. The uranium is necessary to make nuclear weapons. Iran is behaving like a child trying to see how far it can get before they get punished. Could the commander-in-chief be goaded into military action? Make no mistake, I am worried. President Trump tends to get into a war of words. In the case of Syria, he ordered a preemptive strike against the foreign power. The president is predictable with his rhetoric. The whole world knows he is reactive and not proactive. Everything with him is tit for tat. Iran is pushing the envelope and could provoke an international incident we don’t need.
The greatest fear is with all the division in the world, should the United States of America initiate an action, will our allies stand on the sidelines or stand shoulder to shoulder with us. These things should keep us awake at night. You have to wonder, with the improper behavior of the current administration, would the initiation of an international incident guarantee four more years in office for the President of the United States? The President of the United States touts America first while he exhibits an every man for himself approach. America could be at risk for war.
