Recently, I attended a conference where the speaker suggests that authors should turn to YouTube as a platform. It is not the first time I heard an author suggest YouTube as an avenue to introduce their work to the general public. Blogging has always been the vehicle used to have an audience get familiar with your writing style and understand your voice. The blog space is overcrowded with multiple views of various industry types.
When I first journeyed into writing as a career, I did sign-up for a YouTube channel. The only problem became deciding what to put on it. In the beginning, I started uploading my book trailers as a way to introduce my work. Unfortunately, my book trailers although clever, rarely got the attention necessary to be useful. I went on to upload a few training videos, and it too never received much attention. The channel sat idle for a couple of years.
After a couple of years of author coaching, venturing into publishing others and dozens of live events, I understand what to put on my channel. Unlike my blog that covers everything thing that motivates and troubles me, my YouTube channel will premiere a new show series giving writing tips. With more than a dozen books published and thousands of readers, I can impart a bit of knowledge to aid the budding writer on their road to authorship.
The premiere of Writing Tips in 10 Minutes will debut on May 1, 2019, at noon. It will be a weekly show that focuses on tips about writing for a novelist. There are many misconceptions about what it takes to produce a full-length manuscript. Writers feel pressure to complete their work, and sometimes all they need is a short-cut to get a phase of their production done. I hope to help tons of people. You can click here to check it out or pass it along to a writer who may want to become part of a tribe.
