Here is the thing that I love to do throughout the Spring and Summer season. I’m a creative. While writing is my passion, I also paint, engage in amateur photography, sew, cook, and crochet. Each activity gives me a sense of peace and tranquility. The focus that puts me in a Zen state of mind is my live flower arrangement series and I’m about to tell you why.
The living breathing creation of a combination of blooms captivates my interest. Different floral elements put together formulate a mood that can stop you in your tracks. It’s pleasing to the eye and tickles your sense of smell. I’m always surprised when I put different plant specimens together and they rock like two peas in a pod.
Smells of aromatic flowers sooth my senses upon entering the environment. The notes of gardenias, roses, and lavender are elements of some of the most expensive perfumes. I get to have all of them in my live flower arrangement series for a fraction of the cost of a designer scent. My floral creations are whimsical, beautiful, and calming all in a collage in a bowl on my dining room table.
The centerpieces that I create in my live flower arrangement series last about two week. I go to the flower market to pick the freshest arrivals to use as part of my creation. Depending upon what’s available, I go for what I think will work together. On some occasions I still with the same type of flower, just using color variations to formulate something interesting and quirky.
A Portion of Last Year in the Series:

Most of my centerpieces take about an hour or less to create. I use floral wet foam as my base when arranging what becomes eye-catching and seems like it would take hours to formulate the positioning, height and fullness. It’s a very calming process that centers me while in motion. I love the being a creative. It brings me joy and with the world the way it is today, we have got to find joy where we can.
